The more present-day of the portfolio, the 2014 Dalmau Reserva is a mix of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Graciano from the Pago Canajas in the Murrieta bequest. The assortments aged independently for around 11 days, the Tempranillo in hardened steel, and the rest in little oak tanks. The wine developed in French oak barrels for 21 months. I tasted the accompanying two vintages, which felt very extraordinary, particularly 2016. This 2014 is a somewhat more vulnerable vintage and feels somewhat more set apart by the élevage with some cedary notes, smoky and hot with the natural turn from the Cabernet.
